It all started when...

For multiple decades, beginning in 1986, Merlin has been the standard by which custom titanium frames are judged. Beginning with MIT educated Gary Helfrich, Gwynn Jones, and Mike Augspurger in Massachusetts, and later with master framebuilder, Tom Kellogg, who carefully guided the frame's early development, Merlin has long been regarded as an iconic brand.

The Merlin Difference

What makes us different than other custom titanium frame manufacturers?

At Merlin Metalworks we are all about creating “Singular Builds” for our customers. Our customers are family, and are truly involved in the design/build process of their bike. No on-line forms or indirect contact with the manufacturer with us. We develop a direct relationship with our customers.

Built to Order

We are a small batch/built to order custom titanium frame manufacturer located in Boulder, CO. Each frame we build is specifically designed, utilizing seamless Reynolds internally double-butted tubing that is hand selected with varying wall thickness and diameter.

This meticulous build process ensures the end product is a frame that is light, compliant and torsionally rigid to our customers specifications.  Our “Singular Builds” frames are designed and built to be ridden for a lifetime.

Reynolds Double Butted Tubing

Merlin Metalworks uses titanium tubing from the British manufacturer Reynolds, the only manufacturer in the world that draws double butted titanium tubes with a wall thickness up to 0.45 mm. Tubing is cold-drawn from a complex process and double-butted.
